Vermonter's scrapbook, ca. 1872-ca. 1882.

The scrapbook contains newspaper clippings that appear to have been cut from Vermont newspapers. The clippings contain stories, poems, reminiscences of the Civil War, and a number of clippings relating to Jesse James and his gang. In the back of the scrapbook is a short hand-written poem about Jesse James' death. Vermont related clippings include a poem written about Vermont and the South, the visit of the spiritualist Mary Eddy Huntoon to North Adams, Massachusetts, the building of a road up Mount Killington, and a fictionalized account of the life of William Scott, the Sleeping Sentinel. Tipped into the front of the scrapbook are three colored prints of engravings of champion cattle bred by the Earl of Leicester.
